ScholAR Vapor Pressure Lab Activity

Measure and Compare Pressure On the Surface of Different Solutions

Raoult's Law states that vapor pressure decreases proportionately with the number of molecules of solute dissolved in a given weight of solvent. With the materials in this kit, students follow this law as they conduct an experiment to determine the vapor pressure of a solution of water and sodium chloride.

The experiment can be completed in one hour and comes with enough materials for 15 setups.

Chemical Contents:

  • Sodium Chloride

Additional Materials Required:

  • Hot Plates
  • Thermometers, ±0.1°C
  • 1 L Beakers
  • 10 mL Graduated Cylinders
  • Ring Stands with Clamps
